This is an introduction to "APRSd" software which creates a virtual radio which listens for aprs messages and responds. This is similar to how wxbot, email-2, or smsgte work. With this code you can immediately start using the default plugins (weather/location/email/ping/etc), or you can develop your own plugin which responds to a command of your choosing. This is open source software on http://github.com/craigerl/aprsd. An amateur radio license is required depending on your jurisdition/country.
A raspberry Pi is required, or anything that can run Python3. You'll need some very basic Linux knowledge, and an eagerness to learn Python.
