1. Extreme Wide Shot (EWS): The subject is tiny or invisible. The focus is entirely on the environment (e.g., a vast mountain range).
2. Wide Shot (WS): Shows the entire subject from head to toe, including the immediate surroundings.
3. Full Shot (FS): Focuses on the subject’s entire body, emphasizing their posture and movement within the frame.
4. Medium Wide Shot (MWS): Frames the subject from the knees up. It balances body language with the setting.
5. Cowboy Shot (American Shot): A variation of the medium wide shot, framing from the mid-thigh up (originally used in Westerns to show gun holsters).
6. Medium Shot (MS): One of the most common shots, framing from the waist up. Captures both facial expressions and hand gestures.
7. Medium Close-Up (MCU): Frames from the chest up, focusing more on the subject's face while still showing some background.
8. Close-Up (CU): Fills the frame with the subject’s face or a specific object to highlight emotions or details.
9. Extreme Close-Up (ECU): Focuses intensely on a single detail, such as an eye, a mouth, or a small object (e.g., a ticking watch).
10. Choker Shot: A very tight close-up that frames the face from just above the eyebrows to just below the mouth.
