Maurice dives into his experience becoming the second person ever in his family to not only get a high school diploma, but many degrees after and eventually becoming a teacher. We get to hear how he went from being told he would become nothing, to becoming an extremely well respected police officer back in his dangerous home neighborhood, and eventually a successful writer.
