Flight 3 [long version]: Somewhere local that I'll be featuring is North Mountain which is also called Thunderbird Mountain by locals (because it's near Thunderbird Rd.) within the North Mountains Park Preserve in Phoenix. A great vantage point to view the sunrise/sunset as well as the city lights. Also, notice that the valley is surrounded by mountains.
One of the shortest hikes and somewhat easier than most depending on the trail you take. So you can take your cat or ferret for a walk up a paved road with ease. Or take your kids up the more challenging rock trail.They are open from sunrise to sunset.
