Tenor Choir Practice: “Omnes generationes” (BWV243 - 4) from Johann Sebastian Bach’s “Magnificat in D major”. The chorus "Omnes generationes" (all generations) is a sudden shock among a sequence of arias interrupting the “Quia respexit humilitatem” aria. Bach's “Magnificat” has long been known as one of his finest short choral works and is frequently performed during the Christmas season and on Marian feast days.
Quia respexit humilitatem ancillae suae.
Ecce enim ex hoc beatam me dicent
omnes generationes.
For He has regarded the lowliness of His handmaiden.
Behold, from henceforth, I will be called blessed
by all generations
