Calculating the dividend payout is super important as you never want to invest in a dividend stock that cut its dividend!
We've seem this too many times recently (even with large companies) like GE and Kraft Heinz.
Most people calculate dividend payout as: dividend paid / net income.
There's nothing wrong with the traditional method. But sometimes I like to used a modified dividend payout ratio as well:
Dividends paid / cash from operations
