This is a short test to show how much visible noise is left after downscaling and denoising when watched over a compressed stream like on YouTube.
It's not about the GH5 or V-Log in low light conditions.
The church in the middle and the fairground are at a distance of 4km.
This was shot on a GH5 with firmware 2.0 in V-LogL. Recording settings were 23.98fps, shutter angle 288° (1/30s), f/2.2, ISO 800. The lens used in this test was a Canon EF 70-200/2.8L II IS USM with a Metabones Speed Booster XL 0.64x.
4k UHD (3840x2160) was recorded internally in the GH5 with the All-I 400Mb/s 10bit 4:2:2 H.264 codec.
Via HDMI a Blackmagic Design Video Assist recorded the same signal at Full HD (1920x1080) also 10bit 4:2:2 but in the All-I ProRes HQ at 176Mb/s.
Both streams were color graded manually with Davinci Resolve 14 from the Log-Profile recording. Hence the difference in color between the 4k and 1080p video.
The details were zoomed to 200% and 400% for better comparability on screen after compression. The version on the right had automatic noise reduction applied with FCPX plugin Neat Video.
