This webinar reviews the draft criteria for Sustainable Use of Resources and provides the rationale behind the criteria. The Sustainable Use of Resources criteria addresses lifecycle considerations that advance circularity and conservation of resources, including:
• Metals and plastics recycled content, including critical and rare earth metals
• Product longevity and access to repair services
• Product design for reuse and recycling
• Secure data deletion
• Responsible end-of-life management
• Packaging; and
• Water and waste management upstream in the supply chain.
In addition to establishing threshold requirements for products, packaging, and services, the criteria increase transparency through requirements for disclosures on product composition and services, for example, to enhance purchaser choice. The Sustainable Use of Resources criteria is globally relevant, with the incorporation of various internationally recognized best practices.

About Global Electronics Council (GEC)
The Global Electronics Council is a mission-driven nonprofit that leverages the power of purchasers to create a world where only sustainable technology is bought and sold. GEC manages the EPEAT eco-label, a free resource for procurement professionals to identify and select more sustainable products. In addition, the EPEAT ecolabel is a resource for manufacturers to demonstrate that their products conform to the highest sustainability standards. Since its launch in 2006, procurement professionals have reported purchases of 1.5 billion EPEAT products, generating cost savings of $13.1 USD and a reduction of 200 million metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions.
The Global Electronics Council (GEC) manages the EPEAT ecolabel. GEC has met the requirements of ISO 14024, which is necessary for managing a Type 1 ecolabel. GEC sets the policies for the EPEAT ecolabel.
