I tested some of the top AI tools to create industrial-style material boards using the same prompt—no refinements, just a raw first attempt:

“Ultra-photorealistic professional material board, industrial style, rough concrete texture, distressed leather, dark steel with a matte finish, reclaimed wood, cool grey and deep brown tones, high detail on textures.”

Here’s what I found:

✳️MidJourney is still my favourite! The details and textures are unmatched, and with the ability to use reference images, it makes generating the ideal output much faster.

✳️DALL-E also produced impressive results—it’s a strong second for me.

✳️Flux AI has the advantage of working with reference images too, making it great for customising outputs.

✳️Microsoft Copilot works well for general tasks but isn’t as tailored for material board creativity.

These boards are all first attempts, so no refining yet—but it’s amazing to see how each tool interprets the same prompt!
