HPI Nitro RS4 Drift Electric Conversion Part 1

This is a discontinued HPI Nitro RS4 1/10 scale AWD drift car. This was my very first nitro RC car back in 2011. I didn't use it that much because of being nitro and too much money to spend on fuel and glow plugs. Two years later the engine didn't start no more so I removed it and stored the car for years until this year. In 2014 I said in one video that I would make it work again or buy a new drift car but electric, so we had the idea of making this one to electric and not spend a lot.

1. First we cut the upper deck (where the servo is) so the only thing there was the servo to save space.

2. Then we made a bracket or mount from aluminum to mount the battery (made it at the rear of the car for weight distribution).

3. After the mount I made the motor mount fom a 2 inch wide aluminum made to an angle and shaved to clear the spur gear cover. (we had some problems when installing)

4. Then we checked for fitment too many times for the 3800kv brushless motor so it went straight and lined up correctly.

5. Then the pinion was installed (wasn't the correct one in this video, the right one will be in the 2nd part of the build)

6. The ESC, receiver and the battery was installed and tested it to see if it woks.

We had some trouble with the spur gear destroying itself because of the wrong pinion. We fixed that with a new one that is right for the brand new spur gear that we also bought.
