Maria Michailova sings 'Stormy Breezes' (in Russian), recorded in St Petersburg in early 1905 and transferred from HMV E 185.
From encyclopedia.com: Mikhailova, Maria (Alexandrovna), Russian soprano; b. Kharkov, June 3, 1866; d. Moscow, Jan. 18, 1943. She studied in St. Petersburg, and then in Paris and Milan. In 1892 she made her debut at the Imperial Opera in St. Petersburg as Marguerite de Valois in Les Huguenots’, she remained a member there until 1912. On Oct. 29, 1895, she created the role of Electra in Taneyev’s Oresteia. She visited Tokyo in 1907. She made over 300 recordings, achieving a considerable reputation through the gramophone alone.
