Dear Ones, These were the lyrics to one of Steve's favorite songs.
I 'll always remember the first time he played me this song. He said, Martha come sit 'ere and give this a listen," as he popped the "demo" of this Big Country, soon to be UK hit in our stereo. He took a deep breathe as he rocked and hummed along to the song. He played it over and over and I saw him blink back tears. I was touched by this and I asked, "Maynard, are you crying?" He grinned, giggled and cried all together and said, "I've got two tears Martha." He used to say that alot..."I've got two tears." He was that way, he felt things very deeply and he was very moved by this song and this band. He said he wished he could write songs like this. That is why I chose this song to play behind this slide show that our Siren Star Street Team Angel, Cindy Gloeckler, edited together for me, for you, for all of us who loved Steve. The ironic part of this story is that Stuart Adamson, the singer and guitarist from Big Country, also suffered from alcoholism and an untimely death at the age of 43. I picture those two in spirit together, tipping glasses in harmony... "two tears...cheers!"
