I understand that my philosophy may differ from most people's. but this is my philosophy, and this is how/why i started working out.
This is a video that me and my brother made about how the things you see in video games can be done in real life if you practice and work hard.
Background info: i used to be a hardcore video game player. i played about 4-5 hours a day on average for 10-11 years. About 8 months ago i decided that i was tired of pretending to win the World Series, Stanley Cup, and the NBA championship. So i decided to go outside and begin practicing so i could possibly compete in a real life professional league. After 8 months of practicing real sports instead of playing video games, i got bigger, stronger, and faster, while learning many athletic skills. Two important skills i learned were, hitting switch(left and right) in baseball, and the ability to take left handed jumpshots in basketball with great accuracy.
Summary: My slogan "ditch the games. get in the game" means several things. The first meaning is I recommend stop playing sports video games and start playing sports in real life. people who play sports are not only more athletic, but they are much healthier and happier than their video gaming counterparts. this is do to many physical and psycological factors that i wont go into at the moment. The second meaning of my philosophy is if you work hard, you might actually be the cover athlete in one of these games. do you think Sidney Crosby, Joe Mauer, or Kobe Bryant spent hours a day playing video games? no. They were out practicing everyday so that they could one day be the superstars that grace the cover of video games. The last meaning of my slogan is that you can't play games(in the sense of not working hard, and fooling around) and be an elite athlete. You do have to train your body to adapt to the physically demanding job of being fit. Whether this is playing sports outside(like me) or working out everyday, without practice and training, no athlete would be deemed "fit". My philosophy may differ from the traditional "workout and eat well" fitness philosophies that most people have. But this is the philosophy that works for me. Anytime i have a temptation to play a video game, i say to myself "Ditch the games. Get in the game" and i will go workout or play sports instead of playing games
