North Deer Island | Kayak Fishing West Bay Galveston (Discovery Fishing Spot) Eps. 3

Описание: North Deer Island, located in West Bay Galveston TX, offer some of the best speckled trout fishing during the winter. As a matter of fact, West Bay is known as one of the best Galveston TX fishing spots for big gator speckled trout among the local.

The trek out here from the various launch spot is approximately 2 miles so it is absolutely doable in a kayak, preferably a kayak that can be pedal like my Hobie Compass. However, since you are crossing an open bay, please plan your trip carefully and be wary of the winds and traffics.

Today water was completely flat, beautiful sunny sky with light to no wind. Water clarity was about 3-4ft and a lower tide than normal. I managed catch 3 speckle trout and a small red today, kept one for dinner. All fish were caught using Hogie's green chicken major jack in 2-3 ft water.

This place look very promising, especially the deeper channel, I will certainly be back in the Spring and Summer. Get your kayak and Goyaking!
