Welcome to Juncalito, a captivating mountain village that seems to float among the clouds in the heart of the Dominican highlands. Far from the usual tourist trail, this hidden gem is a place where time slows, nature breathes, and human stories beat in harmony with every footstep. In this 22-minute journey, we take you high into the misty peaks of Hanico province to experience authenticity and simplicity in its purest form—through sweeping drone imagery, intimate ground interviews, and moments of shared laughter and reflection.
We begin with the drone flight above Juncalito’s serene rooftops, capturing soft light filtering through rolling fog, revealing a picture-perfect tableau: terraced houses, winding paths, and clouds drifting between peaks. From above, the village looks timeless; from the ground, it feels soulful. This is a place "you carry within you," where each turn unveils a new story.
At the heart of Juncalito is Café Bien Colado, a women-led coffee house run with passion, tradition, and purpose. Here, we meet Raquel Rodríguez, its president. She proudly shares how the café is more than a business—it’s a community hub. Every roast, every handcrafted product, every smile connects to local pride. As she says: “80% of what is in the store, we create, we produce, we build.” It’s community entrepreneurship at its best, and brewing coffee becomes an act of empowerment.
Later, we meet Eduardo Jesús, a beekeeper who embodies determination and resilience. After undergoing a major surgery to remove a tumor and learning to walk again with a prosthetic, he found healing among his bees. “When I arrive here,” he says, “all my problems are gone.” His story reminds us that the land heals, and so do we through connection.
Our trek leads us through the forest to San Lorenzo Waterfall, a place of refreshment and spiritual resonance—where visitors pause to pray to "San Lorenzo" before descending. The cold water, sun-dappled rivers, and gentle prayers offer a sensory respite and reveal how nature and faith coexist seamlessly here.
In Loro Juncalito, a countryside restaurant, local flavors meet mountain hospitality. With its pool fringed by lush trees and meals cooked with love, it’s a place of comfort and discovery. We bring our drone Lolo back into the sky to capture this oasis from above—pool, green canopy, mountains beyond—an aerial embrace of peace.
The journey peaks—literally—at Pico Peñal sunset and sunrise. From the summit, the world opens into an infinite panorama: seas of green ridges under golden light, clouds resembling silent waves, and an overwhelming sense of majesty. No words can match the silence.
Throughout, we meet people whose hearts and homes are rooted in this land—ladies at the café, laborers, storytellers, children behind shy smiles—all reminding us that the essence of Juncalito is not only in scenery, but in shared human kindness, tradition, and hope.
As night falls, we gather under a tin-roof shelter, listening to rain tapping overhead. The camera may not capture every moment, but our hearts remember what was spoken: faith, solidarity, and community. It’s here where we realize that the real ‘luxury’ of this place is its warmth—the intangible echo of belonging.
By the final drone flight, we understand: Juncalito is not just somewhere we visit—it's somewhere we carry. It lives in memory, in gratitude, and in the renewed hope to protect, honor, and share places like this.
Thank you for traveling with us. This is more than a video—it’s an invitation to feel, to connect, to wonder, and maybe to help keep places like Juncalito alive. If you treasure real, heartfelt stories and wild beauty, please subscribe, like, and join our journey as we continue exploring… deeper.
