Autistic Insights for Better Healthcare is a video series where we answer real questions from NHS healthcare professionals about autism.
These questions come directly from frontline staff and reflect genuine uncertainties, whether that’s a situation they’ve faced when supporting an autistic patient, or a stereotype or assumption they want to better understand. For this episode, the questions were submitted by staff within a hospital’s imaging department.
We take these questions to autistic people and to Autism Bedfordshire staff who work closely with autistic individuals, giving space for lived experience, practical insight, and honest discussion. Our aim is to support healthcare professionals to feel more confident, informed, and compassionate when working with autistic patients.
In this video, we talk about what sensory issues are, the difficulties they can cause with care, and how you can help patients manage them.
