In this video I present a 20th century modern classic of italian literature: the novel "History" (La Storia) di Elsa Morante, published in 1974.
It is the story of Ida, a single mother in Rome in the 1940es, during the time of the fascist regime and World War Two, a mother struggling to survive, to make ends meet, and to raise her two boys: the teenager Nino who is fascinated by the rhetorics of the fascist regime and by the adventures organised by the youth organisations of the regime, and the toddler Giuseppe, a weak and meak child, a daydreamer, the result of a rape by a German soldier.
