After 240 days of effort, Jorge Díaz-Rullo has finally completed the first ascent of Café Colombia in Margalef. A brutally long power-endurance testpiece, the route is around 30 metres long and packs in roughly 40 continuous moves on tiny holds, with conditions, skin, and precision all playing a huge role. Jorge described it as the four minutes of climbing of his life.
Café Colombia has been a multi-year obsession for Díaz-Rullo, who first spoke to UKC about the project in 2023 after already investing 120 days on the line. Since then, he has returned season after season, calling it a step above Mejorando la Samfaina and hinting that it could be harder than other elite routes he has climbed, including Bibliographie, Change, Move, and Sleeping Lion. UKC reports that he is yet to confirm a grade, but notes that a proposal of 9c would make it only the fifth route at the grade.
