Situado en el sector norte del área de estudio, el punto de descenso se encuentra a una distancia lineal de 195 kilómetros (105 millas náuticas) de la localidad La Esmeralda (Rocha), a 543km (293 millas náuticas) de la localidad de Cardona (Soriano) y 667 km (360mn) de la ciudad de Paysandú (Paysandú).
La estación se ubica sobre el Talud Continental Inferior en la zona del Cañón Submarino Punta del Diablo, donde visitaremos el cañon adyacente al mismo denominado cañon Esmeralda. Ambos cañones se denominan cañones ciegos ya que su inicio se da en talud inferior y no en el quiebre de plataforma continental.
El cañon Punta del Diablo tiene una longitud aproximada de 75 km (135 mn) de largo aproximadamente y 12km (21,6 mn) de ancho en su parte inferior, mientras que el cañon Esmeralda presenta una longitud de 30 km (54 mn) y un ancho de 3 km (5.4mn), a una profundidad aproximada de 2000 metros.

Dive Description (English):
Located in the northern sector of the study area, the descent point lies at a linear distance of 195 kilometers (105 nautical miles) from the town of La Esmeralda (Rocha), 543 km (293 nautical miles) from Cardona (Soriano), and 667 km (360 nautical miles) from the city of Paysandú (Paysandú).
The station is located on the Lower Continental Slope, in the area of the Punta del Diablo Submarine Canyon, where we will also visit the adjacent canyon known as the Esmeralda Canyon. Both are classified as blind canyons, as they originate on the lower slope rather than at the continental shelf break.
The Punta del Diablo Canyon has an approximate length of 75 km (135 nautical miles) and a width of 12 km (21.6 nautical miles) at its lower section, while the Esmeralda Canyon is approximately 30 km (54 nautical miles) long and 3 km (5.4 nautical miles) wide. Both canyons are located at an approximate depth of 2000 meters.
