Ravana Cave and Ravana Waterfall are deeply connected to the legendary story of King Ravana, the powerful ruler of Lanka from the ancient Indian epic Ramayana.

According to the legend, Ravana kidnapped Sita, the wife of Lord Rama, and hid her in a cave behind these waterfalls — now known as Ravana Cave. It’s believed that this cave was part of a vast network of tunnels Ravana used to travel secretly across his kingdom.

The Ravana Falls, one of the widest waterfalls in Sri Lanka, is said to have been a place where Ravana came to bathe. Surrounded by dense jungle and rocky cliffs, the area still feels mysterious and ancient — a mix of natural beauty and mythological history.

Today, both the cave and waterfall are popular stops in Ella, drawing travelers, trekkers, and history lovers who want to walk through the same mythical land described in the Ramayana.
