Embark on an epic 1,000-mile road trip packed with breathtaking vistas and thrilling drives.
Day 1: Canterbury & Dover. Start your morning at the historic Canterbury Cathedral, followed by a guided boat tour through the town’s past. Spend the afternoon in Dover, taking in the iconic White Cliffs at Samphire Hoe and relaxing on the beach.
Day 2: The Journey North. Hit the road as you head toward the rugged beauty of the Peak District.
Day 3: Peak District to the Lakes. Spend the day exploring the Peaks—be sure to drive the dramatic Winnats Pass and Snake Pass—before continuing your journey toward the Lake District in the evening.

Day 4: Windermere to Buttermere
Breakfast: Kick off your morning at Cafe Ambio. It’s super welcoming and a fantastic spot if you’re a fan of cars and bikes!

Morning: Head to Windermere to explore the town. There are plenty of boat hire options, but we opted for the Red Cruise from Bowness to Ambleside—a beautiful 75-minute round trip.
Lunch: Grab a bite at a restaurant with a lake view to recharge before the afternoon drive.
Afternoon: Take the scenic route to Keswick via Ambleside. The views along this road are stunning!

Evening: End your day at Buttermere. The drive there can be a bit challenging with narrow, winding roads, but the sunset views make it absolutely worth it."
It's best to fuel your car in Kendal if your next location is in Yorkshire Dales.
Day 5:
We moved into the Yorkshire Dales, starting with a scenic breakfast at the Kendal M6 services overlooking the water.

Our first major landmark was the Ribblehead Viaduct, a site steeped in history and surrounded by great hiking trails.
From there, we tackled the Buttertubs Pass, which is widely considered one of the most iconic and breathtaking drives in England.
After the thrill of the pass, we stopped in the lovely town of Hawes for lunch before heading to the picturesque Aysgarth Falls.
We finished our afternoon at the Druid’s Temple, a hidden gem that’s perfect for families with kids.
If your schedule allows, I highly recommend adding Brimham Rocks to your list to see the spectacular natural stone towers!
Drive safe!! Thank you.
