It's said if you want to understand today, you have to search yesterday. Since its unbanning in February 1990, the African National Congress has held a slew of national conferences. They marked different times and spaces, different programmes and outlooks in Africa's oldest liberation movement. As the ANC heads to its next national conference, it is perhaps important to mark where the party is currently. In the present South African political landscape, the ANC remains a giant - in power since 1994.
Nowadays, it faces tumult, from within and from outside.
