A year ago today, December 4, 2017, the Santa Paula City Council meeting ended early due to a fire that started nearby, later known as the #ThomasFire, that was headed directly for the City.
Before heading into the Emergency Operation Center to work and direct City resources, Ikani Taumoepeau - Asst. City Manager, accompanied the Fire Chief Rick Araiza to assess the situation. Ikani Taumoepeau brought his phone and camera along to capture the moment. Captured in the video are the raw discussions, tactics and strategies used to suppress the #Thomas Fire as discussed by Fire Chief Araiza, Asst. Chief Norm Plott, and other remarkable heroes. This video reveals only a fraction of the heroic efforts from the first responders on Night #1 of the #ThomasFire.
