First things first: I wrote a new song in five minutes while I was testing this guitar, and that tells you all you need to know. This Masterbuilt masterpiece is an incredibly inspirational piece of machinery, because it practically grabs you by the scruff of your neck and demands that you rock out as hard as humanly possible. The low-end sounds like a piano crossed with a howitzer—big, boomy, and rich—and then the harmonic response gets drier and woodier in the midrange. The trebles are transparent and clear, with enough high-end brilliance to keep things sounding spacious and open. It’s a little darker than a typical Gretsch, but it's also quite crisp. So, through a crunchy amp, this guitar snarls and growls and bites like an ornery bloodhound on a midnight hunt. If you’re looking for an AC/DC-sounding Gretsch, this Duo Jet will leave you thunderstruck!
