In this video, I'll show you how to remove an internal ice maker on a Kitchen Aid refrigerator. And whether you need to replace it or just get a better look at it, here's how to do it. First, remove the main cover. At the hinge, gently press it to one side and slip the tab out. Then do the same on the other side.

On the bottom right, there's a single 1/4 inch screw that needs to come out. At this point, take off the wire cover. This is actually slightly awkward to get out because of the shape but just lift it up a bit and slide it up. Now on bottom of the left side, locate the locking tab. Just give it a gentle push to release it. There's also a tab on the right side but this one is not as easy to access. So I'll just use a precision screwdriver to press it in. And at the same time, pull the ice maker towards the front of the fridge. At this point the ice maker is completely released from the mount.

The last thing to do is detach the wire connector. Just be aware that there's a tiny locking tab on the flat part that needs to be lifted up a bit. Otherwise you won't be able to release the connector.

Now I can either put this or a replacement ice maker back in the freezer by reversing the steps. This is a job that I'm confident that anyone can do.
