Despite the T-72 being a mainstay of the Russian army, the sheer volume of drone strikes has forced engineers to weld together ‘metal trees’ of spikes and wire mesh that look more like garden ornaments than modern weaponry.

While these metal cages are designed to create a physical barrier against drones, they come with a heavy price as military expert Ingram explains.

The scale of the failure is staggering. While Putin fancies himself a modern-day czar restoring the Soviet Union, the numbers tell a different story.
