Rebuilding a Legacy Towards a Sustainable Future
Asia Commercial Bank (ACB) was one the largest joint-stock commercial banks in Vietnam in 2011 before a corporate governance incident resulted in nearly a one-third drop of its total assets the following year. The then-chairman resigned, and Trần Hùng Huy was appointed as the independent director’s successor.
Despite the tall order he was faced with, Trần not only managed to recover the bank’s deposits and improve profitability in less than two years, but also restored its position as one of the top performing commercial banks in Vietnam in terms of return on equity (ROE) by 2017. Keeping a long-term outlook in mind, he also restructured the bank’s vision and core values to ensure a more sustainable future for the company and its employees.
