This test puts two very different design philosophies on the same water. The Malibu Wakesetter 22 MXZ and MasterCraft XT22t were run exactly as delivered, using factory surf presets with manufacturer-recommended ballast and surf systems engaged. No added weight. No rider-specific tuning. One press of the preset, then straight to surf.
With riders, boards, speed, and conditions held constant, the focus shifts to what each boat produces on its own—wave shape, pocket feel, and overall consistency from pass to pass. When setup is removed from the conversation, performance becomes easier to see. The water doesn’t exaggerate. It simply shows the Truth on the Water.
