Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare is a multi-platform survival horror video game and the fourth installment in the Alone in the Dark series. Players can choose between two protagonists: Edward Carnby, a paranormal investigator who travels to Shadow Island to investigate the death of his friend Charles Fiske, or Aline Cedrac, an ethnology professor who has knowledge of the ancient Abkanis Tablets, which may be connected to Fiske's death. The Game Boy Color port differs from the console and PC releases: it does not let you play as Aline, the story was slightly changed, and many gameplay areas had to be reduced in size or removed entirely.
