The straddle position is used a lot in pole both in tricks and movements and yet is often neglected by students in their training. Even your inverts and shoulder mounts utilise the straddle position as we get more advanced and want to lift, but if our straddle is not good it can make it harder. The less flexible you are in this position the longer your lever is when you invert and therefore you need much more strength to lift than someone who can pancake easily.
There's also a top tip for those of you who get pinchy or crampy pain when stretching your straddle!
