Visit to Tasik Kenyir will not complete if not going to Kelah Sanctuary. But make sure your visit is between March to October since this place is close for the rest of the months for the fish to breed and training to find their own food without relying on the tourist to feed them.
Kelah or in English called Mahseer is protected fish in Malaysia. This kind of fish only can be found in very clean river and it usually swim against the current.
Some fact about Kelah Sanctuary:
Open from March to October only.
From the jetty, you need to walk through rain-forest almost 2km to reach to this place.
Along the way you will cross nice 700m canopy walk.
You need to be escorted and monitored by tourist guide or KETENGAH staff.
along the visit and they will brief you the do and dont's.
About 200 visitors per day and only 50 visitors allowed for one session.
Smoking and fishing are not allowed.
Outside food are not allowed in this place, fish food can be bought nearby.
The river is call Sungai Petang (Afternoon River) named after Petang Village located nearby. Petang Village named after the villagers who most of them working the whole day and only return home late afternoon.
