This is it, the last movement of Illya's Partita: Pendulum. We struggled on placing a name with this movement for awhile, before realizing the momentum of this piece was very much like a long suffering pendulum, pulled high and given room for ever swifter movement.
It occurred to me, upon finishing work on this piece, that I would very much like to play it at one of our little salon concerts, along with some Bach and Ives and a mugful of beer. And then we remembered that it's likely to be quite awhile until we can have a live performance again. But that day will come, and perhaps an online concert in between; and in the meanwhile, there is the little gift that is YouTube, where we can pour all our work, and every recording, into.
So please enjoy this last movement, the Pendulum! Watch it until the very end, to feel the tenacity of this twist of notes, this proper pendulum Illya has written into the strings of the violin.
