Water is abundant in Bangladesh, but not always in the form needed: it may be too salty for irrigation or drinking, contaminated with microbial pathogens, or laden with arsenic. It can flow in overwhelming amounts during the summer monsoon or become scarce during the spring dry season. Lamont-Doherty experts explain how two decades of Earth science research in the country have helped identify suitable sources of water.
