During the Second World War, many destroyers would be lost. On all sides. And because of that, a lot of those ships have become forgotten in the modern day. Remembered, perhaps, as a footnote in a greater campaign.
Today's topic, USS Blue, is one such example. Most likely, you'll recognize the name from reading (or watching) about the Battle of Guadalcanal. Where Blue is generally remembered for Savo Island...and nothing else. Not even her ultimate loss.
That's a problem, I think, because Blue has an interesting wartime career. From sailing out of Pearl Harbor with a command staff of ensigns, to fighting hard off Guadalcanal. Today's video will try and bring that to the light, at least a little.
