Using Substitutions in Your Acting | Transference | As-If

Описание: We often hear about making substitutions in our acting, but what does that really mean? In this video we will examine how to use substitutions or transference when acting in a play or film. This is an acting technique developed by Stanislavski (method acting) and developed further by acting teachers Sandford Meisner, Stella Adler, Uta Hagen and Lee Strasberg.

The terms As-If and Transference are alternate ways of describing substitutions. You will find using substitutions in your acting will help motivate you in taking actions and fully realizing the character, setting, time period and surroundings of your imaginary world using experiences from your own life.

I'll walk you through several examples of substitutions and explain how to effectively use them in your rehearsal process to flesh out your character.
