For Set 27, I'm turning again to the composers of east County Galway whose music I love.
I've already recorded a couple of Paddy Fahey but the tune I'm recording tonight is maybe the most well known of his jigs. I've heard this tune played in both a minor and major setting, and instead of choosing between them, why not play both? Such is the versatility of Paddy Fahey's compositions, it sounds brilliant in both settings.
The other tune is called The Meelick Team but is often just called Eddie Kelly's after the man who wrote it. Another composer from that area with the same ear for unusual and brilliant phrasing in the music. His tunes are as unique and beautiful as any I've ever heard.
