Tullahoma, Tennessee, January 22, 1926: The peculiar appetite of a goat is responsible for the loss of a Veteran's Bureau check of fifty dollars, the monthly recompense of Marvin Rust, former soldier, for wounds received in the World War.
Suffering from periodic attacks of paralysis since being wounded, the veteran was seized with an attack while on the way to his brother's farm. On regaining consciousness, he found a goat calmly eating the envelope containing his newly received Bureau check.
A claim for reimbursement has been filed with the Veteran's Bureau.
Note: Fifty dollars in 1926 money is roughly nine hundred and twenty five dollars in 2026 money.
