We explored White Sands National Park, full of gypsum sand. It never heats up and you can walk on it even when it is super hot outside. I loved rolling down the side of the sand dunes. The sand squeaks when you walk on it.
We also went to Gila Cliff Dwellings and learned about the Mogollon people, nomads who used these cliffs, and the area as their home. I think it would be cool to live in a cave on the side of a cliff. I really liked learning about their culture.
This site is one of the few places you can enter the cliff dwellings. Remember to be respectful of the site when you're moving around.
Gila National Forest allows you to camp undispersed, so we pitched a tent in a cool spot by a creek and took a swim. When we left we made sure to pack everything out! Take only pictures, leave only footprints
