We had some questions in LIVE session and here are the answers to those queries.
1. Can betadine irrigation be done for treatment of abscess.
Yes, repeated and adequate irrigation with povidone -iodine provides excellent, painless and scar free healing.
2. Measurement of Attachment loss.
From the base of the pocket to CEJ. The Cemento-enamel junction (CEJ) acts as a static landmark to measure CAL (Clinical Attachment Level) or periodontal destruction.
3. ENAP - Excisional new attachment procedure is a new attachment procedure, where the objective is to obtain reunion of connective tissue by formation of new cementum with inserting collagen fibres on root surface. In ENAP, there is sharp removal of epithelial lining of pocket. It is described as a gingival curettage with a knife. The procedure is misnamed as it leads to formation of long epithelial attachment and not true attachment.
