Darius Acuff Jr. saved his best for after the break, scoring 24 of his career-high 31 points in the second half to lift No. 20 Arkansas past LSU, 85-81, on Saturday.

The Razorbacks and Tigers traded blows early before Arkansas found its rhythm midway through the second half. Acuff caught fire, shooting 10-for-11 over the final 20 minutes and knocking down all three of his 3-pointers. Arkansas made nine straight shots during that stretch, with Acuff scoring six of them and assisting on the other three, helping the Razorbacks take control.

Freshman Meleek Thomas added 13 points, and Billy Richmond III finished with 11 for Arkansas (15-5, 5-2 SEC). LSU stayed within reach by attacking inside, scoring 42 points in the paint and adding 19 second-chance points. The Tigers also capitalized at the free-throw line, going 22-of-25 compared to Arkansas’ 7-of-18.

LSU had a chance late after Acuff missed two free throws with 31 seconds remaining, but Dedan Thomas Jr.’s jumper came up short on the ensuing possession. Thomas led LSU (13-7, 1-6) with 18 points, while Pablo Tamba recorded a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds as all five Tiger starters finished in double figures.
