These days, a dangerous cyber scam called Digital Arrest is spreading rapidly across India.
In this scam, fraudsters call or video-call you on phone or WhatsApp, pretending to be police officers, CBI, or government officials. They falsely claim that your Aadhaar number, phone number, or bank account is linked to a crime and create fear by saying you are “under digital arrest.”
They may force you to stay on a call, threaten legal action, and demand money to “clear the case.”
👉 Important to remember:
There is no such thing as digital arrest in India.
Police or government authorities never arrest people over phone or video calls, and they never ask for money this way.
🚨 What to do if you receive such a call:
Disconnect the call immediately
Do NOT share personal details, OTPs, or passwords
Do NOT transfer money
Talk to a trusted family member
Contact the nearest police station if needed
