Let's have a fun lesson today! I'm going to talk about the piano style of Erik Satie, an influential composer for piano. Satie's iconic piano style consists of alternating bass-chord accompaniment in the left hand, while using distinct chord degrees (3, 6, 7) to outline their special color in the right hand melody. This is a pretty fun style to write in and it's also pretty easy to get the hang of it! Just use some major 7th and 6 (or 6/9) chords and you'll be playing like Satie in no time.
