After a half an hour of walking in random directions, you hear the faint sounds of people talking. You walk faster to the noise, hoping that it’s a group and not some trick. The noise gets closer, to the point where it echoes. You dash to the way that the noise is coming from. To your surprise, you see an enormous group of people walking around. Multiple crowds can be seen getting supplies or just hanging out. Some can even be seen with weapons, almost like they’re from a military organization. The sense of fear you had before suddenly disappeared.

Two men with rifles walk towards you. “Are you new to this place? You don’t look familiar”, one of the guards asked. Your brain can’t comprehend the fact that you’re finally in civilization. You try and talk to the two guards as best as you can, explaining that you just randomly stumbled upon this place. And if you’re fully honest, you have no idea what this place is. The guards look at each other for a split second before speaking again. “Well kid, this area was made to keep citizens safe. We give them basic needs, shelter, all that stuff”. You take a look around the enormous room.

People are talking, smiling, laughing, and having a good time. Here. In a place where the sign of freedom is nowhere to be found. Somehow, it makes you tear up, realizing that the search for safety is over. The guards look at you for a few seconds. “You can stay here if you want. As long as you don’t cause any trouble. We just need a name”. Looking around the room one last time, you say your name. One of the guards takes a walkie talkie from his pocket and walks away.

“Be safe”, the guard says as he invites you to step in. The feeling of finally being able to experience civilization again brings you to tears as you walk into a new life. A deep sigh escapes your mouth as multiple people look at you with a welcoming expression.
