This winter drive begins in Bled, Slovenia, a picturesque alpine town located at 480 meters (1,574 ft) above sea level, with a temperature of -2°C (28°F). Bled is world-famous for its emerald lake, medieval castle perched on a cliff, and its location at the edge of the Julian Alps, one of the most beautiful mountain ranges in Slovenia.

Leaving Bled, the route passes through Lesce, a small but important town in the Upper Carniola region, known for its proximity to the Sava Dolinka River and as a gateway to the alpine valleys.
