"Poland has become a key player in Europe because it has achieved tremendous economic success in recent decades," said French President Emmanuel Macron in an interview with Polish Television on Friday. France and Poland signed a bilateral treaty of enhanced friendship and cooperation on May 9 in Nancy.
Both countries want a stronger, more independent Europe, aware that it must become, and is becoming, a geopolitical power, Macron added. The signing of the main treaty by Macron and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk was followed by the signing of a second document, on cooperation in civil nuclear energy.
