“I Was Scared!” — Suspect Runs on Destroyed Tires in High-Speed Chase
On January 25, 2024, at approximately 3:23 PM, officers received a stolen vehicle alert for a New Jersey license plate V90SJT. The last known location of the vehicle was near Camp Creek Marketplace and Commerce Drive.
While traveling north on Commerce Drive, an officer spotted a beige Chevrolet Malibu matching the description from the alert. After making a U-turn to follow the vehicle, the suspect pulled into a private parking lot, briefly stopped — then suddenly fled, initiating a high-speed pursuit.
The driver sped recklessly through parking lots and back onto Commerce Drive, crossing traffic lanes and continuing eastbound. The suspect tore through Camp Creek Marketplace, ignoring stop signs and traffic control devices, creating significant danger for the public.
The pursuit continued westbound on Shelby Lane and across the Lowe’s parking lot before the vehicle returned to Commerce Drive and headed toward Camp Creek Parkway. The chase escalated onto Interstate 285, where the suspect fled southbound before exiting again at Camp Creek Parkway.
After exiting near Washington Road, the driver lost control and drove over a raised divider — but still attempted to continue fleeing southbound. Once a safe opportunity presented itself, the pursuing officer executed a Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT) maneuver on the passenger side of the vehicle, causing it to rotate clockwise and become disabled.
The driver then exited the vehicle and fled on foot. An officer pursued and deployed a taser, but it was initially ineffective. During the chase, the officer slipped and briefly lost contact. TFC Kammeraad then deployed his taser successfully, bringing the suspect to the ground.
The driver was identified as Marquavius Terek Beasley, whose license had been canceled for multiple reasons. Further investigation revealed he was wanted for numerous crimes in Fulton County and Clayton County. After confirming all outstanding warrants, Beasley was transported to Clayton County Jail.
