John 3:16 is one of the most well-known verses in the Bible — but do we truly understand what it reveals about God’s love?
In this Advent message, “Love Came Down,” we look closely at John 3:16–17 to discover that God’s love is not abstract, distant, or conditional. It is initiating, sacrificial, and saving. God did not wait for us to clean ourselves up. He moved toward us first by sending His Son, Jesus.
This sermon reminds us that:
Love initiates — God loved first and moved toward sinners.
Love gives sacrificially — Jesus laid down His life so we could have eternal life.
Love saves, not condemns — Jesus came to rescue the lost, not shame them.
Through Scripture, real-life illustrations, and the heart of the gospel, we are challenged not only to abide in God’s love but to love others the way Jesus loves us — with humility, sacrifice, and grace.
