Families who fled to Bukavu to escape fighting in nearby towns continue to face difficult conditions. Although the city is calmer now, finding food, shelter, and safety remains a challenge. Fighting in eastern DR Congo has intensified since January, with rebels taking control of areas around Goma and Bukavu. Many people have died, and millions more are displaced because of the violence.
