Here's a pre-war style blues improvisation in the key of F. I just love to take a low down feel and use it to try to build an expressive blues with melody, swells of intensity, and an overarching shape.
The beginning lick is inspired by an obscure , but amazing pianist, Eddie Miller, who contributed some of the most melodic blues accompaniment in the entire pre-war piano canon. Check out his "Good Jelly Blues", or his accompaniment on Charlie McFadden's "Harvest Moon Blues". Absolutely killer stuff!
