Описание:
“Jam Session” performed by Duke Ellington, captured in a 1942 Soundie originally produced for coin-operated Panoram music machines.
Ellington was more than a bandleader — he was a composer who treated jazz as a living, evolving language. Rather than writing for an abstract orchestra, he composed specifically for the individual voices and personalities within his band.
Soundies were short musical films shown in cafés, bars, and storefronts across America, offering an early form of visual music documentation before television became widespread.
